Tours & Education

..

One of the most important aspects of protecting our marine life is to learn about the problems they face, and to pass that knowledge on to others.

The SA Whale Centre offers a range of educational services designed to teach all age groups about our local marine life.

These include, guided tours, education programs, school holiday programs and Children’s University accredited activities. All of our programs align with the South Australian Curriculum, tailored to suit varying age groups and experiences. Our aim is to engage as well as educate.

Become a Whale Spotter

..

If you live locally, or by the coast anywhere in the Fleurieu region, why not become a Whale Spotter? Our dedicated network of passionate spotters are on call throughout each winter helping to spot and identify our magnificent Southern Right Whales.

Spotters report sightings using our online whale sighting database and are often called upon to verify if a member of the public reports a whale. The SA Whale Centre offers free training sessions in whale identification and reporting each year prior to whale season.

Volunteer at the South Australian Whale Centre.

..

Volunteers play an important role in the daily functions of the SA Whale Centre. As such, we are always looking to expand our team. Our volunteers are encouraged to apply their skills and experience in any or all of our available roles.

We offer flexible hours and a friendly team environment. Training is available in customer service & education though we also have admin and maintenance roles available. The SA Whale Centre is committed to assisting each of our volunteers in reaching their full potential.

With a small library of resources and lots of information about whales, local marine life and conservation issues, there is plenty to learn at the SAWC.
