Encounter Marine Park Whale Trail

Rediscover the beauty of nature by exploring the Encounter Marine Park Whale Trail and explore the pristine coastal environment on our doorstep.

This picturesque nature trail winds from the stunning Waitpinga Cliffs along our coastline through Victor Harbor, Port Elliot through to Goolwa.

The Whale Trail encompasses over a dozen lookouts from Victor Harbor, Port Elliot and Middleton, coming to an end at Goolwa Beach. During Whale season, the trail comes alive with visitors hoping to view Southern Right Whales as they congregate along our shoreline to give birth and strengthen their young ready for the return to Antarctic waters.

Visiting The Trail outside of Whale Season

Outside of whale season, the trail springs to life with an abundance of local wildlife on offer. The endangered Hooded Plovers nestle into their scrapes along the cliffs below your feet. Dolphins and seals frollic in the waters along the trail and the surrounding landscapes change from lush greens to earthy browns.
